Import Your Brickset Collection to SetSquad

By The SetSquad Team · Updated September 16, 2026

You do not have to retype anything. Export your collection from Brickset as a CSV, open Collection in SetSquad, choose Import, and pick the file. SetSquad works out which app the export came from on its own, so there is nothing to map or configure. Rebrickable exports work exactly the same way.

It takes about two minutes whether you own 30 sets or 500. CSV import is a Pro feature, and every Founding Member has it for their first year, so for most people switching across it costs nothing. The detail is at the bottom of this page.

What you need

A CSV export from Brickset or Rebrickable. Both let you download your collection from your account page. You do not need to clean it up or rename any columns first.

What carries across

From a Brickset export, SetSquad reads:

Brickset columnBecomes
NumberThe set, matched against our catalogue
QtyOwnedHow many copies you own
OwnMarked as owned
WantMarked as wanted

A set marked neither owned nor wanted comes in as previously owned, so your history is not thrown away. From a Rebrickable export it reads set_num and name and does the same matching.

If the file is not a recognised export, SetSquad says so and names the columns it expected (Number and SetName for Brickset, set_num and name for Rebrickable) rather than failing silently.

What happens to sets we do not have

Our catalogue covers LEGO sets from 2000 onward. Anything in your export that we cannot match is counted and reported back at the end of the import, so you can see exactly what did not come across instead of discovering a gap later. Nothing is dropped quietly.

After the import

This is where SetSquad does something the app you exported from does not: it times your builds. Once your collection is in, start the timer on your next build and it records your time bag-by-bag, saves your personal best, and ranks it against everyone else who has built that set.

If you want to know what you are in for before you start, every set has a build-time page with an estimate you can read without an account.

What it costs

Being straight about it: CSV import sits behind Pro, alongside bulk add and CSV export. On a free account the Import CSV option is marked PRO and opens the upgrade screen rather than the file picker. A free account also tracks 30 sets, which is the limit you would meet anyway when bringing a few hundred across.

The way most people avoid paying for this is the Founding programme. The first 500 accounts get unlimited sets, unlimited timed builds, import and export, and no ads, for twelve months, with no card and nothing to cancel. That is the year to get everything catalogued in. What happens when it ends is covered in is there a free LEGO collection tracker.

And whenever you want your data back, SetSquad exports the whole collection as CSV: set numbers, names, status, condition, quantity and purchase prices. Being easy to leave is part of being worth staying with.

Frequently asked

Can I import my Brickset collection into SetSquad?

Yes. Export your collection from Brickset as a CSV, then open Collection in SetSquad and choose Import. The file format is detected automatically, so there is nothing to configure, and Rebrickable exports work the same way. CSV import is a Pro feature, included for Founding Members during their first year.

What carries across from a Brickset export?

The set number, how many copies you own, and whether a set is marked owned or wanted. A set marked neither is imported as previously owned. Sets SetSquad does not have in its catalogue are reported back to you rather than silently dropped.

Do I have to retype my collection to switch apps?

No. That is the whole point of the CSV import. If you already keep your collection in Brickset or Rebrickable, the export and import together take a couple of minutes regardless of how many sets you own.

Can I get my collection back out of SetSquad?

Yes. SetSquad exports your collection as CSV with set numbers, names, status, condition, quantity and purchase prices. Export sits behind Pro in the same way import does, and is included for Founding Members. Your collection is your data, and it should never be a reason you cannot leave.
